Redevelopment

[edit] Grantville Redevelopment
The Grantville Settlement ought to be overturned by the new city council. Grantville is not blight. The city, county, and CCDC are scheming to transfer over $31 million from the small businesses of Grantville to beautify downtown, not coincidentally right in front of City Hall and the County Administration Building.
[edit] Historic Preservation Under Threat
Lobbyists got Mayor Sanders to push Historic Resources Board staff to change the Municipal Code to allow developers to appeal historical designations to the City Council and allow a de novo hearing and then allow the Council to overturn designations based on financial hardship or non-factual issues. As it is now, the only grounds for an appeal is the HRB relied on a factual error or substantial new information proves they were wrong. THIS IS GOING TO BE A CRISIS BECUASE EVERY DEVELOPER WILL GET AN OVERTURN. Col. Sanders wants this decided before the new Council goes into effect. We are going to lose everything if they get this damn change through the Council.
[edit] Mills Act Reforms
The second crisis is Mayor Sanders' proposed Mills Act Reforms. He is rushing those changes to Council on November 24th to beat installation of the new Council. He knows Sherri Lightner and Marti Emerald and probably Todd Gloria would not agree to these changes. We need to get at least 300 people to that hearing. We need to prepare a slick 15-minute presentation; which may have to be broken into 2-minute pieces to be delivered by a lot of people (Council President Peters probably will deny a prepared group presentation). And we need to do this NOW.
